RICE BALL   [NEER URUNDAI]      

Hi friends!! Hope your day is going good.Today's recipe is rice balls.It is one of our traditional dish. I learned this recipe from my Mother in law.My husband's favourite recipe also.Nowdays people forgotten to make this recipe.Yesterday i prepared this in our home so i thought to share this recipe with you all.Do try this and enjoy.






INGREDIENTS:

Boiled Rice - 1kg
Jaggery - [Small pieces] 100 gm
Poached coconut - 2cups
Salt - As required.

 PREPARATION:

1. Soak the rice  for 3 hours in water.  Then add the soaked rice to a mixie jar and grind them to a fine  batter.
2. In a flat surface place the white cotton cloth.Then put the batter over the cloth.So that it will drain the water completely.Minimum it takes 1 hour to drain completely.
3. When the water drained completely add poached coconut and salt. Mix well.
4. Take one portion of the dough and make small sized balls. Then Place them in a plate.
5. From another portion of the dough take small dough and tap with your finger to a flat round shape and then place the small piece jaggery inside the dough and make the dough to a round shaped balls.
6. Meanwhile heat the pan and add water and  brings to boil. Once boils add the shaped dough balls to the water. Flame should be medium.
7. It will takes minimum 15 - 20minutes to cook. Once cooked it will floats on top one by one.At  that  time take the Rice Balls and Transfer to a Plate.

Grind the soaked rice using mixie jar to a fine batter . 





Now add poached coconut and salt to the batter. Mix well.





From one portion of the dough make small sized balls As shown in below image.





In the boiling water add the shaped dough and cook for about  15 - 20 minutes . After 15 -20 minutes it will  floats on top one by one as shown in image. 










When it floats on top then transfer them to a plate.







 From another portion of the dough take small dough and tap with your finger to a flat round shape and then place the small piece jaggery inside the dough and make the dough to a round shaped balls. Repeat the same for remaining dough.


                       
                       


Now add this to the boiling water and cook for about 15-20 minutes. Once cooked it will floats on top. 











Then transfer to a plate. 






Now both the rice balls are ready to eat.
