VENDHAYARASAM (FENUGREEK SOUP)


     Vendhaya Rasam (Fenugreek Soup) is prepared with Vendhayam (Fenugreek seed) as a key ingredient.  We can eat this with white rice or simply we can take this as a starter.  Preparation time is less than 20 minutes.  We can serve this for 3 members.  Fenugreek is rich in proteins, Iron, and Magnesium.  It is good for health.  Also it reduces body heat.  Fenugreek Soup is one of the South Indian Recipes.  People prepare this Vendhaya Rasam for their lunch Vendhaya Rasam and Potato Fry is one of the best ever combination.  Do try this recipe and share your feedback with us.

INGREDIENTS:

Oil - 2 tbspn
Mustard Seeds - 1 tspn
Red Chilli - 3
Fenugreek seeds - 1 tbspn
Split gram lentil -1tbspn                         
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Onion -1 (chopped)
Tamarind Extract - 1cup
Turmeric Powder -1/2 tspn
Salt - as required
Water - as required

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. In a Pre - Heated Pan, add oil. Once Hot add mustard seeds and Red chilli.When it splattered add Fenugreek seeds and Split gram lentil  for seasoning in low flame. Cook for a minute.
  2. Then add curry leaves and chopped onion. Saute until onion becomes translucent.
  3. Add Tamarind Extract ,Turmeric powder and salt. Also add water to your requirment.
  4. Close the lid and cook for 5-7 minutes.When it comes to boil turn off the flame.
  5. At Last , transfer it to a bowl and serve with boiled rice.

In a heated pan add oil . Once hot add mustard seeds and Red chilli.














Now add fenugreek seeds,split gram lentil and white Gram (urad dal).Saute it for 40 seconds.










Once done add Curry leaves and Chopped onion.Cook until onion becomes soft.










Now add Tamarind extract, turmeric powder, Chilli powder and salt.  (Chilli powder is optional)













Add water to your requirement.



Close the lid and cook for about 10 minutes.Until the raw smell gone.









Finally turn off the flame and transfer to a bowl.





serve with white rice also have potato fry as side dish.
